Xbox Controller Issues

Does anyone else experience issues with a wireless xbox controller not being detected by the game to be used instead of keyboard? If I recall correctly, I didn't have an issue with TLS using a wired xbox controller in much earlier versions of the game. Maybe it's a wireless issue? My controller works just fine with other games so I don't think it's specific to my controller... Or maybe it's an issue with the version of the game? I always got the standalone RTP version for the record, although recently I have been playing on the Steam version which may or may not be the RTP version?

Any help/advice is appreciated!

ArgoTheRatfolk I had no problems getting TLS to recognize my steam controller emulating an xbox one. I suspect your controller might not be working correctly. Have you tried it with any other games that support controller?

The version of the game is certainly not a factor that would affect this so you can be sure that the RTP version isn't a problem.

Dmitry I don't have any problem with the controller when playing other games like the Outer Worlds or Skyrim. It's just TLS, and Desecration of Wings also had the same issue - which is part of why I wondered if perhaps it was something to do with the version of the game or something with the engine?

Still, I guess when I get home I could go into steam and perhaps play with the controller settings and see if it will work by making it emulate a different Xbox controller or something, since that worked for you. Thank you for your feedback.

Unfortunately, most of TLS's controller support is just hoping the underlying engine does its job right, which it sometimes doesn't. On that note, are you quite certain it's undetected rather than just being configured weirdly? You might try switching around the buttons in the confusing F1 menu.

You also might try a program like Antimicro that lets you emulate keyboard inputs with your controller. This is an approach worth trying in general for games that don't support controllers or don't recognize your particular controller. Just the other day I heard of someone using this approach for Desecration of Wings.

Steam version is RTP version but I strongly doubt that matters.

FWIW, I find that my wireless controller (XBox 360) doesn't work unless I power it on before launching the game, but it works fine for me otherwise. I'm using the default Windows driver, but I also use Keysticks to map the D-Pad to the arrow keys since VX Ace doesn't support the D-Pad.
