Should Discretionary Funding be included in the investment wiki page?

A discussion has started over whether or not discretionary funding should be included in the investments page. As I am currently reworking the wiki page this is the time to throw in your lot.

Discretionary Funding is separate from investments but are handled in a similar manner. I think it should be clearly defined that they are separate, but I think it would be a better user experience if they were on the same page.

I don't see a need. It's not like having more pages is a bad thing, and the investment page is cluttered enough as to already be a bad user experience as it is before you go making it even worse by adding in discretionary funding. At most I'd put in a link to the discretionary funding page on the investment page, and a link to the investment page on the discretionary funding page.

discretionary funds are investment, only not doing with your actual pron. but the milion megail give you in erosia is the same. and the leftover of DF/PDF become pron in the next return cycle.
many discretionary fund poject became aviable for ProN in chapter 4, with a 1%=1K rateo. and the calculation about the PDF you have use basicaly the same conversion. i think this will speak for iteslf in the matter.

Videospirit pages spreading it ins't good, it's necessary for the sheer amount of info., but must be reduce as much as possibile. or will make a separate page of any country you can invest?

I could see an argument for separating the rounds of investment into different pages but not countries no, although I'd rule against separating it more since it could create confusion if you do.

But separating discretionary funds from regular investments works very well to make the information more readable and there's no advantage in terms of confusion factor to sticking discretionary funds on the ProN investments page aside from a handful of yhilin investments being available as both. Just make a footnote on those investments that links to the discretionary funding page and mentions they could be bought as such and you'll make everyone's reading experience better.

A personal peeve I had with the wiki in its early days was that while it was informative, it was rarely instructive, the information was there but sometimes critical bits of it would be scattered across different pages and attention wasn't drawn towards those finicky interactions.

With that in mind, I'm quite fond of the current discretionary funding page, there are several peculiarities to the DF system that do not translate into the mechanics of normal ProN investments, and the current DF page explains those very well, I wouldn't like merging the DF investment into the investment page if it meant losing those details, but I also think transcribing the entire DF page into the main investments page would interfere with the readability of the later.

I would prefer if the DF page was kept, but it was addressed as an "Investment round" of its own by the main investment page and linked to, similar to how the walkthrough page treats the big war events by linking to their specific pages.

Discretionary Funding plays basically the same role as investments during chapter 3, so I think it should be included on the investment page.

I think it's useful to have a footnote that tells you that the discretionary funding sections are coming up, and will have you take a break from normal investing, then have it be explained on a separate page. I believe they work too differently to let it clutter up the main investments page.

I'm a proponent of that actually : Instead of trying to fit this all into a hard to follow mega page, have one exhaustive page for each round (of standard investments or discretionary funds), using templates for investments that are repeated through several rounds (and explicitly identifying them as "returning investments" or something), with the main Investments page acting more as a hub. That would actually help with the issue of displaying clearly what investments are locked/unlocked, have different prices etc.

But in the meantime I'm in favor of leaving Discretionary Funds in their own page.

And I just realized I can probably make a massive transclusion page for investments. It keeps the mega page for those that want it and gives access to per-round investment for those that don't want a mega page.

Sorry for the late response, but I have been out MIA for quite some time and I have to say that I like the actual status of the page a lot. The only pet peeve that I have is that the subpages are in your personal domain in the wiki:

Would you mind if they were moved to the main wiki domain? I don't think that they will ever need a lot of edits, but in case that were needed I don't feel right to modify the personal pages of the wiki users.

Just to be clear: a minor and low-priority thing, specially at this point in the development of the game.

lostone2 The subpages were moved when I did the transfer, it appears I just forgot to fix the transclusions themselves. I fixed the personal domain issue on every other page but the most important one apparently.

Also since I moved the pages themselves The links showing were essentially redirects to the proper page.
